6 weeks past into surgery and yet i don't feel any smarter! haha sighs not looking forward to exams next week and the week after :S
but on a much brighter note, FOP (festival of praise) today was fantastic!! went with a few of the medicine people, including sam, sheryl, kristanto and josh :) was really glad to have their company there :) the worship was really good esp when don moen came out to lead. felt that his songs ministered more to me personally than the ones by delirious, the other band there, but they were great too :) one of their songs in particular, Our God Reigns, really spoke to me when i heard the lyrics and thought about the many patients we see in the wards everyday whom we can't help much. it talked about how there's so much suffering in the world, and how many things are going wrong in the world, but at the end of it all, even realising that, we still unite and praise God, asking him to forgive us for what we've brought to the world, instead of questioning him on why these terrible things happen, and the power of that was just infinitely touching and amazing. i don't know how to describe the feelings in me when i saw the unbelievably huge congregation of christians of singapore worshipping together, but it was an unbelievable feeling :) it was a great experience, and i'm definitely going again next year! 1st to 3rd of aug next year! :) and thank you sam for sending me back in a taxi, it was really nice and gentlemanly of you to volunteer, thank you! :)
some reflection after the event has made me once again awed by the many blessings God has poured into my life. truly. it made me think about how i haven't done much in the past 6 weeks to make a difference in the lives of my patients, besides perhaps cheering them up and keeping them company in the time that we chat and interact with them. but so seldom, or perhaps even never do we take the extra step to do something about the situation they're in. during the worship just now, was thinking about one of my patients in particular, this really cheerful elderly gentlemen who has multiple metastases in his body and is still taking it well. his attitude to life is really incredible, and humbling. really hoping for the chance to pray with him about his condition on Monday, praying that God will open doors for me to do so. and praying that he keeps his optimistic attitude towards life, for it's really inspiring to all around him :)
