Have you ever experienced telling someone about something, then wishing immediately u hadn't? and regretting that you did at all? i kind of feel like that now. Not because it's something i don't want my friend to know, but simply because i'm worried that by confiding, by telling, that one thing will change my friend's opinion of me. And it wouldn't be worth it. So now i sit here, hoping and wishing i could turn back time, but as a character from Foxtrot says, i would first have to "debunk Einstein's theories" and move faster than the speed of light to do so (turn back time, that is), i have no other alternative but to regret.

Some things are better left unsaid, unspoken.

P.S. em, if you're reading this, don't worry. wasn't referring to you :)

LOTR

I finally managed to catch LOTR. yay. It was good i felt, even better than the 1st one, in my opinion. The sets were fantastic, the scenes which consisted mostly of battles and fights were great, and there was a nice sense of humour in the show as well, which i didn't really see in the first one, or just perhaps i can't remember the first show anymore. With the little dwarf making fun of his own height *grin*, had me laughing and laughing :) (cos i can identify with him, yes). and the trees were cute too :) and the smiggles person was so confusing, with his split personality and all. and *scary* too man. *shivers* well, it was a great 3 hours :)

i need the use of a cd burner! sheesh. i have no idea to this day why i chose to buy a zip drive (which i can't seem to install now) instead of a cd writer.

and now i'm stranded with four cds to burn, and no cd burner. the misery of life is as such.

well...postings are out. i hope everyone got the choice they wanted, or at least, don't mind and feel comfortable with the posting results they received.

*

only 13 days to school! argh, major freaking out. I hope my choice was the right one...but then again, there can never be a right choice, cos everything in our world isn't perfect. just hope i get through my two years in rj happily, without too much problems, on the whole.

*

the amazing race! i'm so happy zach won, but urgh, that means flo wins it too. she didn't do anything throughout the whole race except being a pain, complaining and crying endlessly (sheesh), and she certainly doesn't deserve that $500,000 she's gonna get. zach's really good though. i mean, he won the whole race single-handedly, considering flo's non-participation. cheers to him!

pity the two brothers didn't win though. they worked so well together, hardly ever argued, and had such positive attitudes. they more than deserved the 1 million bucks, which they didn't get :(

back!

woohoo! finally back! with unlimited access of computers! god, i love my home. :)

heh. i shall try to summarise the past 6 days...but it's probably not gonna be very summarised. not interested, don't read on :)

happenings
Let's see. First day. Went to Changi Airport at about 6pm and walked around for a while, since i haven't been there for quite a logn time..since i went there in sept to see Peggy off to England, but that's kind of different. So there we were, waiting for the tour guide, who was extremely late by the way, and we went into the place (whatever it's called) to wait for the plane and all. Saw the phones there and called Sunny, who very kindly told me how she managed to get hold of 17kg worth of a-level textbooks that day, while doing com service. *grrr* Presently still fuming mad (at myself, don't worry sunny) for not being there and getting some of them too. hrmph. heh. have i sounded muggerish enough? *grinses* time to stop now :)

It then struck me that it was Fri the 13th. My heart started pounding real fast, my hands turned cold and clammy, and sweat broke out on my forehead. nah, joking of course. But it did worry me a little, me being superstitious when the need calls for it :) And it so happened that while we were waiting for the plane in the hold room, the news about the Garuda Airplane accident at Changi Airport HAD to flash on screen just as i was preparing to get onto the plane. talk about Fri the 13th and coincidences.

Oh and at 34000 feet, i just happened to glance out of the window, and caught a really great view of the night sky and all. really beautiful. the sky was clear, so i could see many stars and all. *serene regrets not reading up more on astro before leaving singapore* And in the span of 30 minutes, i saw 3 shooting stars! the first 3 in my life! way cool. that was probably the highlight of my trip :)

*

Visited this old palace on the 1st day. And there was this frozen lake, again the 1st i've seen in my life. the frozen part, that is. Hah. then physics came into play. While the tour guide was telling us abotu how carp were living under the ice, i was there mumbling under my breath, "cos the water under the ice is at 4 degree celcius, and water at 4 degree celcius is the densest!" *grinses* yay. how useful physics is. Oh yeah. then the tour guide told us some crap about the Koreans excavating this dragon head and tail (as if it exists) and how soon after that the Korean economy underwent a recession. And how when they replaced the excavated head and tail, the economy improved. Basically, his point was the importance of fengshui. (so maybe i shouldn't say it's crap since i did fengshui for my irs, but still.)

*

definite highlight would be the skiing part. The tour guide told us to expect to fall down over and over again, at least 10 times, but i didn't at all! *grinses* (maybe he did when he 1st learnt how to ski) And after 5 to 10 minutes of warming up, i tried to ski down from this relatively high slope and it was so so fun! gosh. everyone has to do it at least once in their life :)

*

great news. i missed out on the snow. snow from the sky, not those already on the ground. cos it started snowing in the middle of the night, and i was asleep like a log, so of course, missed what i had went there to see. *grrrr*

shopping
nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period. nothing. period.
There was absolutely nothing to buy. Nothing but winter clothing everywhere, which was going at super-ex prices anyway, so i obviously didn't get much of anything.

food
Food was ok..some meals were quite nice, but some were terrible. especially the ones with nothing much vet and more veg, and the one with nothing but mushroom and more mushroom. URGH. i'm a meatarian please. veg is disgusting.

One nice dish would be the chicken ginseng soup. The chicken had been cleared of its..erm..entrails and had glutinous rice stuffed into its..erm..derrire :) But it was nice. *grinses*

The food from the roadside stalls were surprisingly good too. but they were far from being cheap. food in korea is expensive. hrmph.

Oh and of course we had barbequed chicken and pork seoul-garden style. Besides that, it was...well. let's just say i've had had enough of korean food these past 5 days, and am glad to be back in singapore :)

people

1. Oh gosh, i think i'm head over heels over....this really sweet looking 2 year old boy in my tour group. he's terribly cute, and handsome, and has really really long eyelashes. gosh :)

2. This 23 year old guy Benjamin, also in my tour group, who looks really like the korean lead actor in Winter Sonata. really cool :) especially since his hair is dyed the same colour, and he wears specs too. With his winter coat on, the resemblance is terribly striking.

3. One of our tour guides looked like the captain of the Korean football team! *grin* Except for his hair, which looked like the Ahm person. So it's like a cross between the 2. heh. cool too :)

4. We were in this restaurant, and we spotted this tour guide who looked a lot like one of the Korean actresses in this show called "Truth" which just ended. Her hair, size, mannerisms, voice were almost exactly like that of the actress. So our whole table was in a flurry of excitement *grin*, all of us being korean soppy drama fans. Then Ben went up to the lady and asked her whether she was really the person or not, and unfortunately, she apparently wasn't. What a letdown :) Then again, perhaps she just didn't want people taking photos of her. *hopeful grin*

finale

hmm. korea's quite boring actually. nothing much to do there. but skiing would be the main highlight of the whole trip. and i didn't manage to record the korean show on sat and sun (the last episode) cos my video player died on me at this very crucial moment!!! boohoohoo. it's a kind of irony too. going to korea, and in the end, missing out on my fav KOREAN shows. well, i find it ironic, that's all.

holiday programmes iii!

wonderful wonderful day today. : )
In the morning, went to help out at jurong springs cc for southwest cdc, in the distribution of uniforms to needy children. The response was terrible, with people asking for uniforms we didn't have, and those that were supposed to come either didn't come at all, or came after i left. hmm. the response for the used textbooks were of course much much better, but fortunately, it stopped at becoming a stampede. At least I didn't see anyone fainting from waiting in the hot sun to be admitted into the hall to collect their textbooks. *phew*

*

Then made my way to orchard to have lunch with my grandma, my two aunties and my cousin. We decided to go to Sushi Tei for lunch, and gah. they ordered so much for main course, and still insisted that we had to take more of the sushi on the revolving tray. And i tried raw salmon for the first time today! ewww. quite disgusting actually. It was soft, really soft, and slimy, and well, tasted uncooked. And it didn't help to see the chefs preparing the salmon in front of us. They took this large bulk of salmon from this quite gross-looking brown container, which didn't exactly seem very clean. *urgh* but nevertheless, i've survived this ordeal, and am fortunately, (touch wood) am fine now. : )

*

Gah. then went for my dental appointment, with my cousin accompanying me. Nothing much to say there. How good could a dental appointment be, right? At least i didn't *really* get lectured by my dentist (again). perhaps he's too tired of reminding me over and over again huh.

*

Oh yes, then went back to Orchard and went to the library and borrowed books! yes!
list of books:
1) Andromeda Strain (i read it before, but i forgot what it was about, so borrowed it again : )
2) 1001 pitfalls of french :)
3) Idiot's guide to intermediate french : )
4) Italian for dummies (yes sunny, i've been influenced by you *grinses*)
5) Beginner's guide to the universe (cos i feel so inept in #trivia whenever something about astronomy comes out)
6) The changing universe
7) This collection of short stories called ahem "shorts". : ) (i just realised as i was typing this how the title is related to the fact that the book was made up of short stories. sigh)

yay. fun fun fun. gonna learn italian! *grinses*

*

haha then dinner time again. at 9pm sigh. went to fish and co and ate the seafood platters there :) well, brought back fond memories of netball carnival!!! :)

*

it was almost 10.30 when we got back to wisma for the car. Couldn't find out way into wisma since it was closed, and trudged (really trudged) to the back part of wisma, took this scarily unstable lift up to the carpark. the adventures we have in everyday life huh.

*

fun day. will spent the whole of tomorrow reading my books and becoming an expert on astro! yeah (right)! : )

holiday programmes ii

well. quite a productive day today, I would consider. Went to borders to read James Patterson's new book: Four Blind Mice. Not exactly very exciting, unlike his previous works like "Kiss the girls" and "Cradle and all", but well, one has to continue following the series. : )

*

I realise how extremely terrible my spoken chinese is. I called in to make a reservation for 4 at this Satay Steamboat restaurant that Val recommended, and I could hardly manage to make the reservation. There I was going : erm, wo yao make a reservation (gah)...gei 4 ge ren (what kind of grammar is that?!)...zuo reservation yao bu yao duo fu qian? (sigh. hopeless)...and when i was giving my handphone number, i had to stop and ponder and translate each number for the waitress. I don't think she was very pleased. And when I was giving her my chinese name, pei4 ting3, i was like, chong pei de pei, and.....(lapses into bewilderment on what ting3 it was). A simple telephone call to make a reservation took me almost 6 minutes. I bet for anyone else, the call would have been over in less than 2 minutes. I'm so ashamed of myself. *sniff*

*

Spotted a man reading a book titled "Irritable Bowel Syndrome". Not that he shouldn't read it, but perhaps unless u have a stethoscope around your neck, it might be advisable not to broadcast to the whole world about one's bodily problems. gosh. that sounded really mean. "Advisable" is the key word. We still have freedom to do what we want to do in Singapore, and that includes reading "Irritable Bowel Syndrome". : )

*

*grin* Sunny can be terribly wols sometimes. She got tricked so so many times today, it was quite amusing. : ) Go read her blog on it, she promised to relate the tortures of wolness she was subjected to, albeit due to her own wolsness. *beam*

*

yay. going to do com service tomorrow, 2 different ones in all. At least, that'll be something meaningful, even though my cantonese is in a terrible state. Actually, what the heck, my command of cantonese is quite totally non-existent. I hope my superior understanding of teochew (haha) combined with my fantastic command of chinese (yeah right) will pull me through communicating with the old folks tomorrow. I shall pray for me tonight. : )

*

Hmm. Didn't manage to sell the pens i was supposed to sell a few days before. So since one kind soul bought ONE pen (i think i'm desperately in love with him *grinses*), i have a total of 50-1=49 pens now. yippee. Perhaps our help would have been better not rendered at all. "It's the thought that counts"? Hah. Not when it comes to fundraising. More like "It's the amount that counts". I'm sorry we couldn't be of much help to youth council, but hope that we'll be able to help them in other ways, that hopefully don't require me to exercise my wonderful stale and rusty persuasive powers. *sniff* There goes debate.

*

i don't wanna think, don't wanna see, don't wanna be, but i do.

holiday programmes

Let's see. What do I have planned for the hols.
1. watch movie
2. watch movie
3. watch movie
4. ""
5. ""

hmm. watched so many movies these past few days, my mind is starting to be this mess of images and moving pictures. I went to the esplanade and borrowed "Ghost", that old movie starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze (ooh) which i never managed to catch even though it played on tv like a million times already, and "Coma", this medical thriller from my favourite author Robin Cook, also another show from the early 90s. They were great! : )

Hmm. Downloaded quite a few movies too. (shhh) Like, "Ghost Ship". It was terrible. Terrible, terrible, terrible. It was so boring! sheesh. boring, boring, boring. So glad i didn't spend 6 or 7 bucks to watch it in the theatre. There was no plot, it wasn't scary AT ALL, and the acting was "peccable" (opposite of impeccable). Sigh, probably the lousiest show ever. Worse than...well. there's really no comparison.

Next, one-hour photo. No, I didn't sneak into the cinema to watch it, i simply downloaded it again. Though i have no idea why they gave this show an RA rating actually. They could have just censored certain parts for about 5 secs, and it wouldn't have affected the show at all. All in all, the show was labelled a thriller, but it wasn't thrilling at all. Quite slow paced, with a plot yes, but not a very good one too. It was a little freaky though, cos Robin Williams carried off his part as a seemingly mentally unsound man quite well, with his insanity being due to him being sexually abused by his father when he was young. (no, they did not show that part, nor would i have wanted to see it. *shudder*) Still, it wouldn't have been worth the 6 bucks either.

Following that, I watched "Ice-age"! It was terrific! Great! Fabulous! *grin* Cartoons are just so much better than shows, with all the subtle humour, and not so subtle jokes, it was just so fun to watch! =)

And then, i watched "Unfaithful". Hmm. Average i guess. Nothing special, nothing really surprising, no twist at the end...it was kind of slow too. Sigh.

I'm such a couch potato.

Movies lined up to watch next:
1. A beautiful mind (eww. i hate watching russel crowe)
2. The importance of being earnest
3. Battle royale (the story mirrors that of Lord of the Flies)
4. Cast away
5. Swimfan
6. Bridget Jones' Diary (haha...i liked this trashy book)
7. The Emperor's New Groove
8. The Blair Witch Project
9. A Bug's Life

This is gonna take me all day, or even, a few days to download.

alma mater

Hmm. All that hype about alma mater, but it turned out to be quite boring actually. Serious. I mean, there was nothing really special about the whole occasion that marks the end of our Sec 4 year, which happens to be kind of anti-climax. I mean, I think Sec 4 farewell assembly was even more meaningful than the alma mater thing. So of course, i'm regretting spending money on the dress and stuff, but oh well. Perhaps the only fun part was the staying over part. *grinses* shared a room with grace, sunny, sixuan and jen (who slept throughout), and talked from 3 am to 10am. 7 whole hours of talking. i'm amazed at us. so yeah, that was fun...talking and bridging, daidee-ing at the same time. =)

I want pictures too! hmm. on second thoughts, i don't want pictures. I look terrible. hrmph.
