life after Os
This being my first experience after a major examination, not counting PSLE, I have to say life after Os is...boring. Serious. There's hardly any purpose in life, not in a depressed way, just that there really isn't. Unless you count shopping and walking along Orchard for 4 days in a row for almost 28 hours in total a kind of purpose in life. I don't, and so, there isn't. Not to say I'd rather be mugging, but at least, I could see where I was going and what I had to do. Now, I can't. =)
On top of being bored, it seems to me that I've been busier these past few days than anytime in the past few months. And even more tired. bored and busier = contradictory? Not at all. I'm bored with all the mindless shopping, make that window shopping, and i'm busy with nothing of interest. This is exactly why I can't wait for next year to arrive, where we all start a new life in JC, and I to regain my purpose in life again. =) yes, indeed now i should start a countdown to next year, just like I did a few months ago for the start of Os.
Oh and Christmas is almost here! It's my absolute favourite celebration, especially when you walk down Orchard at night, where all the decorations are up, and they are just so pretty! Perhaps admiring the lighting is the only thing that i've done the past week that hasn't been a waste of time. And those cheerful Christmas songs that I just adore, and never will get tired of. I was at Paragon the other day, and this used-to-be actor was singing Christmas carols, improvising and doing his own rendition of all the old favourites. Lovely. The song was absolutely lovely, until I saw who was singing it. (*grinses*) Then it became...not so lovely anymore. =)
And we're celebrating Christmas this year! I can't wait for the 24th of december, where we're gonna have turkey, ham, christmas cake, e.t.c e.t.c e.t.c. *yum*
Just one more day. Yay.

Fantastic day it was! Going to school for an exciting a-maths paper *grin*, going out to watch harry potter with 6 other people, em, ili, sya, sunny, kai and jen! So fun passing food around and stuff. And the show was great! Superb effects, plot (even though we already knew, it was still and will be a great plot), well basically, worth all $6.50 of our money and even more.
*
Trying on dresses was fun too. Spotted this really cool black dress, (it was cool wasn't it?), and the only thing that really stopped from buying it was the price, and the fact that i'm probably gonna only wear it for 2/3 hours, since we have to change out for the alma mater item?
*
And saw this really nice pair of earrings, the butterfly ones, but decided against it. Am regretting it now though. Hmm. Kai has it though (she bought it), and she says she's prepared to sell it to me if i change my mind. =) Oh, i love dilemnas after exams. They're such a pleasure.
*
And yes. We mustn't forget the bacardi rum we shared. kai, sunny, val and me. It was good though, though drinking on empty stomachs made kai and me get tipsy quickly. Hrmph. I'm usually able to down one whole bottle of wine without feeling anything, but today was merely...an exception. yes. post-exam stress, in...someone's words. (i think it was val).
*
More shopping tomorrow. yay. Life's good.

woohoo! Finally all the studying-studying subjects are over, and I can heave a sigh of relief right here, right now. History was well, not that fantastic, but not that bad either. It was perhaps just bad because of a serious lack of time, and because my favourite civil war and cultural revolution didn't come out for essay! hrmph. And so, there I was, looking through all the questions, and thinking about what could I answer, and what could "best show my (non-existent) ability" in Ms Yeo's words. Not that I had much choice in the end actually. The moment I saw the "why" question for all the questions in part a, i was like "....." (in sunny's words) =) In the end, had to do question 2, for the part a question was the only one I really really knew how to do. Sitting there, trying to recall what was on the last 3 pages of chapter one in our textbook *grinses* was quite traumatising, especially with a major mental block at the start, and a complete inability to understand what the question really wanted, whether it was *this* or *that*. Sigh. In the end, I had to write both *this* and *that*. Better safe than sorry.
A-maths tomorrow, and then...over! technically, if you don't count geog. harry potter! yeah!

gosh. I hope I don't get killed for "advertising" this blog, but it's really very interesting. If you go look at it, go read the past few blogs with plenty of interesting comments. School camaraderie doesn't really exist, to my surprise and ultimate horror. *laughs*
Oh yes. 2 more hours to the paper that determines whether or not I get to stay in RJ trip science. Hmm.

Hmm. Geog was kind of unexpected. Unexpected in a bad sense. I don't know if it was just me, but the paper seemed unusually difficult, way different from prelims. A 10 mark question i attempted to do was...quite bad. 10 marks. argh. Which leaves me in a worried state, as my L1R5 is not secured. I've got to do much better for history tomorrow..or else. Better, as in much better, considering the dismal state of my *favourite* subject, SS. (hey, no sarcasm there, it was just emphasis) I'm hoping good topics come out tomorrow, like cold war, china civil war, cultural revolution. *prays hard* Then again, nothing I've predicted has come out so far, so perhaps everyone should just study what I didn't predict. yes.

-~Which SUNSET are you? (v.2)~-
brought to you by Quizilla
You are not a sunset. You can't remember the last time you saw the sun. The sun is evil. You relate with the moon on a deeply profound level. That, or you're just a text-book hermit. You're self concious- but you needn't be. You are actually strikingly attractive. You would never even want to be a sunset anyway, and you don't know why you took this test in the first place. Sunsets might be overrated, but at least you can feel good by the fact that you're constant. A sunset is so flippant and noncommital. You are an individual, and proud of it.
Another quiz telling me what i am not. Hmm.

Hmm. I just deleted the previous post as it sounded too...scary. And dark. and depressing. And the last thing I need now is something depressing again, with what creating the state of depression I'm presently in being the higher chinese paper on friday. I'm definitely going to have to retake it next year. And all because I chose the wrong question. I've only done bao zhang my whole life, and I had to choose the other question to do on the day itself. I don't know what came over me. To add on to it, I wrote out of point. So my grade's going to be a tentative B3 or more likely a B4. To make it worse, it's a total drop from prelims, so it feels 10^infinity times worse.

head.

Preparations for french essays bring me back to memories of 9 to 10 years ago, when it was mandatory that we do a picture descriptive essay for both english and chinese. Quite humiliating to know that what we do for french now is comparable to the standard of P1 or P2, non? Je frissionne quand je le pense. It doesn't help either to realise that my obsessions with argumentative essays in french, which are what I usually do for practice, and hand them up, are not going to help me in the Os in 2 days. For I have finally realised, after closely studying the "TYS" for French, that the format of the questions do not include argumentative writing at all. Instead, we are expected to choose between writing a letter, writing a conversation and writing an account of something weird that happens. (it's always something weird, like a shipwreck, your encounter with a notorious criminal, or something along the lines). And of course, one does not get a choice for picture description at all. Yes, I do realise that my close detailed study of the past-year questions should have been done much earlier, and so it is all my fault. Ah well. I shall just stumble along on Friday, and do the best with what I have, which by the way, isn't very much since my french vocabulary is like zilch. Not surprisingly then, that this french essay thing is the cause of the splitting headache I have now.
*
Oh and the horrors of higher chinese! Je frissionne encore. Just praying hard that inspiration will come to me during the exam, especially for compo, so I will be able to think up of solutions to problems in the bao zhang bao dao question, and praying also that that question would be regarding some policy stuff. Things like...racial harmony, water policies, scholarship bonds(my favourite topic!) e.t.c. amen.
*
oh yes. we mustn't forget English. hmm. I do realise this blog doesn't have to include everything, but i just have a compulsive urge to write stuff down. perhaps I should write it in French, but no. I have no intention of making my headache any worser than it already is. Well, English was relatively ok, (relative to SS), and wrote the interesting topic on animal captivity. It was quite a fun paper, I thought. And don't worry ad, when I saw that question on the "create a scene" thing, my original reaction was: "Damn. Am I going to have to write something from my non-existent imagination?" So yes, the question was misleading, and only upon a closer read did i sigh in relief.
*
Right. On a sidenote, I baked a cake today! *beam* Got to go watch zhen qing now. It's getting a little draggy though, what with all the attention on xiao an and jinjin. Sigh. The perfect epitomy of indecisiveness, that one is. Ciao!

Right. I'm presently at home, 1.5hr after a not-so-good SS paper. Not to mention 3.5hr before a hopefully-better english paper. With that in mind, I have decided to indulge in some free-writing, to get my brain working again.
So. SS paper. I guessed that merger and separation, as well as venice would come out. And behold! I was right. But guessed what I did? Public housing in Singapore and Hongkong. I had a bad feeling it would appear in the exam yesterday, truly I did feel some form of premonition regarding that topic, but attempted to shake it off, and so did not really embark on a thorough study of it, choosing to read through some of my favourite topics, namely good governance. I knew they wouldn't give us a topic on that though, due to the fact that it would be extremely obvious thing to do. Nevertheless, it is my favourite topic, so I read it. And as a result, totally neglecting Venice, because i just can't stand the topic. yes, because I just can't stand it, I refused to study it knowing that I would regret it, and regret it I do now.
Hmm. Was that considered free-writing? I doubt so. More like serene contempleting, a.k.a. seriously considering (practising giving the meaning of vocabulary words now) and regretting the happenings of 2 hours ago. Right. Now for some real free-writing on...let's see. The topic of poverty. On second thoughts, perhaps free-writing is something that's too dangerous to put up here. Who knows what I might sprout out with. I'd better migrate to Word.

I'm getting hot and cold intermittently, thinking of tomorrow. It's not an uninteresting feeling, in actuality.
*****
debatabase.com has to be down just when i need it to read up points for argumentative essays. Murphy's Law indeed. My head is all rusty, and I need to revise the points for controversial issues, so I guess that would be a sad goodbye to a high mark for essay.

argh sigh. I realise what a difficult task it is to write FOR the cambridge examiners for the english exam. There are just so many things you can't put into your script. For example, (and you can probably tell I am trying to be grammatically correct, at least for a while) I was reading this article discussing whether public figures should have their privacy, and there was this nice opening on the Princess Diana incident that was quite relevant, and would have made a perfect opening for an essay discussing that. Then I thought to myself: What if the examiner gets insulted or something? After all, he is from the UK. And so i abandonned the thought of using that. Next, I read an article on whether capital punishment should be abolished or implemented. And there in the essay was a stat on how murder rates in the UK (again) have doubled since capital punishment was abolished. Again, a sensitive figure that i am reluctant to risk putting in. Sigh. Perhaps i'm just being overly sensitive, but examiners DO have personal feelings regarding issues, so why risk it?

Last night, at 3am, was inspired to write a poem. yes, u heard that right. a poem. don't ask me why, i just did. i'm not a lit person, i can't write for nuts, but i wrote a poem. two in fact, one last night, and one this morning. it really really sucks to me, (and probably to everyone else too) but this probably will be the very best i'll ever come up with (i hope i'll improve) so here it is. qing3 duo1 duo1 zi3 jiao4.
Reminiscences
Thoughts flood my mind as I think of things past
And things that never ever were, and will never ever be.
Wishes and dreams really do come true
But only in fairytales, where naught is blue.
Thoughts flood my mind as a question arises,
Why do I care, and why do i bother?
Torn, like a butterfly's wings askew,
My heart is, so is it any wonder I am blue?
Thoughts flood my mind as I think of you,
Every move you made, everything you said.
Reminiscing things that meant naught to you
But are memories that hold me forever true.
Nightmares
Last night i dreamt of you again
You were there with me, you were holding my hand.
And in that dream, I held you close
But later woke up and had to let go.
Angry tears fill my eyes as I awake
The image of your face, your touch, disappearing from my head.
It's funny how sweet dreams become nightmares when you wake
When you realise all you want is not yours to take.
