sheesh. was quite bad actually. but monsieur Quenot seemed to understand to a *certain extent* what i was talking about. My conversation topic was about school, and he asked me stuff like, if i liked my school, how is my school different from other schools, if i liked my school uniform, what i would change about my school if i were the principal, the subject i hated most, why most pple hate chinese, if there is a lot of competition between ri and rgs, why or why not...*phew* and many more actually. hah. everything i said was total crap man..
i told him i loved my school cos they gave us a lot of homework, which i felt was essential for a good education, told him that i loved my school uniform though it was a little hot at times...and i said i would change the DC system if i could, to make it less rigid. ah well.

Is greed good?
i personally agree with the nicely crafted argument below.
It is a common misconception among the opponents of capitalism that greed is the root of all evil. What these critics fail to recognize is that greed is the greatest motivation known to man (or woman). America would not be the country that it is now without greed. Andrew Carnegie�s greed built up the steel industry and helped to build this nation. Bill Gates� greed revolutionized the computer world. These entrepreneurs have made America better for everyone, and it was all motivated by greed. Greed is one of humanity�s greatest assets.
The critics of capitalism will argue that greed harms people. This is a rather limited view of the world. The critics interpret the economy as a �zero sum� game, where if someone wins someone must lose. This is not true. Wealth is constantly being created and redistributed. Studies of individuals below the poverty line show that most people don�t stay beneath the poverty level for long. In fact, those individuals who ranked in the bottom fifth in terms of personal wealth were found to be more likely to be in top fifth after five years as they were to remain in the lowest division. Wealth is constantly circulating and increasing. Our economy is not a zero sum system. There is plenty to go around.
Ted Turner donated $50M to the United Nations and scolded other billionaires for not donating more money. This position is misguided, as several of those other billionaires pointed out. The money donated to the UN could have been better spent on building the economy and servicing the greed of those who have it. Billionaires who desire to increase their wealth do so through business ventures. Ventures that will create more jobs and improve the economy. The $50M donation of Ted Turner will be spent to help others, but will not continue to help them over a period of time. It has been said that if you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, but if you teach him to fish he will eat forever. Donating money is like giving a man a fish. Spending it is like teaching him to fish. Creating new businesses will help people earn a consistent income and improve their lives.
Greed is not the root of all evil, contrary to popular belief. Greed is actually the driving force behind most development. The world�s greatest businessmen, past and present, have all been labeled greedy, yet they have created jobs and expanded economies. Some argue that greed is harmful, they fail to realize that wealth is constantly being created. Anyone with the proper motivation (greed) can become rich without taking wealth from someone else. happy birthday to Singapore!
my my. don't we just love national day!! and that was not me being sarcastic. i really mean it.
it's so....uplifting. when we sing the national day songs, when we join hands and sway to the powerful cresando of the music, when we see everyone participating, doesn't it feel just great? it does to me. and it's special too...cos how many countries bother to make national day songs every year (even though the songs might be deproving each year)? singapore, singapore and singapore.
went out today with like half the class to get....something. *grin* (that secrecy was for sunny's sake *laugh*) well. i didn't buy what i had intended to buy in the end. how sad. =) got some nice earrings and hair accessories though. had to stuff the earrings into my earholes by using a lot of strength, cos they have almost closed up since i took my earrings off for netball carn, which was about a month ago. hurt horribly, but i managed to in the end =)
sigh. so many more days before we return to school. aww. =)

a-math mock exam today wasn't that bad...contrary to what i originally feared. though that's only because i had time to check my paper once. only then did i realise that i had made like careless mistakes for about 5 out of 11 questions...i really should start being more careful, though as my primary school math teachers (note: all of them) say, it seems to be something i can never be...sigh. can't say more cos xiz and sunny haven't taken it yet...so, good luck to u guys yeah? =)
