went for ACJC science quiz competition today...=) it was quite a horrible one....
there were 6 sections in all..the physics, chemistry, biology, maths, astronomy and open-ended section...of these...the best section in which i could GUESS most of the answers was biology...sigh...the rest were just a total nightmare..=)
after about 1/2 hr (the quiz was 1 1/2 hr)..i picked up the lovely 20-cent coin on my desk and started tossing it to decide on some of the answers...haha...this ACJC girl was staring at me the whole time i was doing that...looking very "disgusted"..oh well...some people just don't have a sense of humour!! =) sigh...val and sunny went for a movie after that *sob* and i went back to school for debate prep...hmm...oh well...cut my speech from 8 1/2 min to 5 1/2 min...shall attempt to slice off more later...=(
hmm...MUST win TCHS!!!! MUST!!! MUST!!!! but my team's feeling a little worried now cos we heard that TCHS got their nick tan (their coach) back...argh...i shall delve more into this rumour...

BUT we will win unanimously! absolutely! there can be no other way...
oh well. went through 6 hours of debate prep today...went through our rebuttals and all. oh well...it wasn't that intensive though=)
bleah. been thinking about the debate on fri A LOT...i know i'm totally gonna break down if we lose the debate..and so will everyone else...it's sad really...how schoolwork's being neglected at the expense of debate...oh well...sacrifices...

went for LDS (Leadership Development Seminar)...argh. the trauma. food was good for the morning tea. There was small curry puffs, fish fingers, CHEESE CAKE!!!=), chicken drumlets...(which i dropped..both..hehe)....and erm, tea and coffee?? yeah. oh well..we suspect the food was only good because of the presence of the guest-of-honour, Minister of Environment. Lunch wasn't good at all...egg was tooooo salty..bleah. nvm abt. the food...we were there for the seminar right? oh well...i learnt how to be an autocratic leader!!=) tis interesting...
not supposed to say this here...but i finished my ying4 yong4 wen2 during one of the speeches...feel accomplished..YAY!!
oh well..tomorrow's yet another day of suffering through the economy-class syndrome (space between our row and the row in front is damn tight..considering we have to cross our legs and attempt to be lady-like...and ladies of distinction and dignity..bleah)...looking forward to it *fingers crossed*.

hmph. went for "CHAOS" science quiz at temasek junior college yesterday with val and sunny. We had to build a bridge out of 100 ice-cream sticks and 2 rolls of scotch-tape, that had to be able to withstand as much weight as it possibly can. haha..we constructed an indestructible, "uncollapsible"? bridge that was aesthically pleasing...NOT! =) we named it The Indestructible Bridge". Considering the fact that our bridge was ahem.."highly mobile" as val put it (translation: could swing from side to side), we should have named it The Sucidal Bridge" instead. Oh well..think about the Titanic and its supposed "unsinkable" nature...we shall console ourselves by blaming the mobility of the bridge and collapsibility of the bridge on its name....=)
hehe..our bridge consisted of this platform that was propped upon unstable clumps of ice-cream sticks and cushions of scotch tape...the "cushions" were added in cos we needed to extend the height of the bridge to make it 15cm above ground...oh well..considering we did most of the work in the last 5 mins of the competition...i say we did very well!! cheers...=)
The judge was amazed with our bridge..hmm..maybe appalled was a better word..he came up to us and asked very "innocently" if we planned to be engineers..and the look of relief on his face when we responded negatively was ahem...sigh...
oh well..then we went for the 2nd component of the quiz, which was 50 mcq questions...haha..had a terrible headache after doing it...sigh...weird questions..especially the bio ones...i remember one question asked: "What muscles are involved in smiling?" oh well...in the end, we based it on the latin/french derivatives to obtain/guess? the answer. haha..of the 50 mcq questions...we tossed coins for about 20 of them. RI only tossed once. hmph.
so...obviously we didn't get into the finals...RI, ACSI and CHIJ got in...was hoping TCHS would get in...then it would be the battle between ACSI, RI and TCHS...BLOODSHED!!! but then....the ultimate winner was never in doubt...RI won duh. me, val and sunny could answer most of the questions in the final round though...but i guess when u're sitting there actually doing the quiz...we wouldn't be that composed...oh well..it was fun enough to see RI desperately attempt some questions we knew immediately...cheers agaiN! =)

oh well...went to orchard today for lunch. went to the turkish restaurant at far east plaza to buy their famous wonderful delicious sticky ice-cream=). the guy selling the ice-cream did a series of tricks with the ice-cream, e.g. making me grab at it frantically while he kept twisting and turning it out of my reach...then he let me grab hold of it...and the cone was "displaced" from the ice-cream...according to my friend, who had warned me beforehand...that was supposed to happen...then he swung the ice-cream upwards to ring a bell??? sigh...then, it was another series of desperate grabbing again...tsktsk..
the ice-cream was nice and sticky though..price was reasonable. $2 for quite a large scoop...yay..highly recommended!
went back for science quiz training...was 5 minutes late..considering we left orchard at 2.30...oh well..joanna hadn't started anyway...sat through brain-twisting new a-level information on chemical equilibria...something about reactions reaching "equilibrium"...it was quite ok..but when we started on ionic equilibria..i was totally lost...guess my brain had reached an "equilibrium" =)...oh well..we begged her to stop...and she agreed that we should too...that was gooood..anymore and my brain would probably have "combusted"...
stayed for the parent-teacher meeting too...val, sunny, grace stayed too...and we consumed almost all the food meant for the parents and the teacher...sheesh..=) oh well..we weren't allowed to listen in on our teacher-parent conversations...some of them were so loud that we could hear though..hehe..
bleah. science quiz tomorrow..desperately trying to cram in o-level syllabus..which is like impossible since we haven't learnt so many stuff...nvm...shall flunk the quiz...hmm..and we have to build a bridge in the competition too...really weird...so trying to look for the best type of bridge to build...oh well...
shall sleep now..need the brain power...=)

i have thoroughly disinfected my phone with methylated spirit..goodness knows what germs it's harbouring..oh well...it's as good as new now...hmph. the thief took my pink handphone accessory...i shall make it a point to get another one=)
